Publication | Performance evaluation of a ring-worn pulse oximeter for the identification and monitoring of obstructive sleep apnea

Publication Date:2025/4/15

Example traces from simultaneous recordings of PSG and Ring data during a 10-min period of respiratory events. PSG signals are shown in blue and Ring signals are shown in black. NPT, nasal pressure; Effort THO, respiratory effort signal from the thoracic belt; Effort ABD, respiratory effort signal from the abdominal belt; SpO2, oximetry signal.

The study shows that the Viatom finger-worn O2Ring pulse oximeter reliably detects moderate-to-severe OSA, correlating well with PSG measures. Its low cost and ease of use make it a practical tool for at-home screening and ongoing OSA diagnosis and management.
